Forgive me if this vid has already been posted in this 100 plus page thread!!

I feel so lucky to have gotten to hear these three guys jam just like this numerous times growing up in Southern California in the 70's and 80's. All of them are such straight ahead master swingers.

CF's solo starts around 6:30...I would not say this is the "best" I've ever heard Carl. Perhaps just another "day at the office" for him [although just ONE day for me like this would be just FINE!]. His melodicism and swinging feel were at LEAST this good on any given day!!

I love how he toys with the time deliciously in the first chorus, especially the bridge. He also plays several of his trademark well-placed quotes in his second chorus.

the band has a very strong vibe. we've been hittin' at Smalls, in NYC, a bit. if you join their website, you get access to all of the audio/video streaming of live events, plus a HUGE archive of audio recordings from the past few years. at $20 annually, IT'S A BARGAIN.

Beautiful performance of the Castérède Sonatine by David Reycraft of the St. Louis Symphony.

Expressively played with phrasing that *feels* appropriate (I've never studied the piece, I just know that *I* like the phrasing here).

here's a link to aud/vid of the last half of our set at the Pee Wee Russell Memorial Stomp in NJ a couple of weekends ago. I love playing with this band of beautiful musicians and PEOPLE. George Gee started his band 30 years ago as a student in Pittsburgh and moved the band to NYC, his hometown, 20 years ago. i took the reigns as musical director a couple of years ago and have been writing a ton of music in that time. no mics for the horns, so the sound is less than perfect.

Scott Hartman is one of those players you hear a lot about, but you don't hear all that frequently unless you specifically look for him playing somewhere live (something that I strongly recommend you do).

Obviously, Youtube's codec leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to basic sound quality, and the camera used to record this was not necessarily the best possible choice, audio-quality wise, but you can really get a great sense of the basic depth of sound and expressiveness of Mr. Hartman's playing in this recording of the David Concertino. There's other videos up currently of his playing other pieces of the repertoire, but they're generally less-well-known pieces (Little Buckaroo, Nina Rota Concerto) or coming from a flawed recording source like a VHS tape redigitized and uploaded to Youtube (Arrows of Time).

This guy is phenomenal. Truly awesome range, tone and technical brilliance performed on a Bach 42 with 5G mouthpiece.

Some artists have attained, or just possess, abilities beyond to understanding of ordinary players...I felt the some way the first time I listened to Tommy Dorsey's recording of "Trombonology."

Probably not a legit upload, Ben has his own youtube channel that he's active on, and this is probably from his second CD "First Song".

I felt conflicted about posting this here (I am not the person that uploaded it), but the more I listen to it, the more I realize just how amazing this recording is, and the fact that people should listen to it. Passionate, accurate, extremely nuanced (notice how he doesn't gain in volume at all going down into the valve and two valve registers, instead maintaining the same volume and sound quality), etc.

I am really happy to announce that these are two of the tracks that won me a college downbeat award for Outstanding Trombone Soloist which will be formally announced in the June issue

I was searching around You Tube to find a good trombone model recording of "Alone Together" and discovered quite a few. It seems the tune is quite popular with trombone players. Anyway, I came across this one by a redheaded guy called Sean Shackelford. The whole group are very young looking and I have never heard of any of them but I like the potential that I hear. To be sure, they do sound a bit raw on some of the other You Tubes you can view but I still hear a lot that I like. I have no idea when it was recorded but it was only put up quite recently.

A quick google search puts this video in Fresno,CA last fall.
Sean appears to have gone to Buchanan HS (Clovis,CA) back in 2007, so that would put him in his early-20's now. Seems to offer performance and teaching services.
I like his sound although I think the studio sound guy added too much reverb (decay was too long) in spots.

I know all those guys - they all go to Cal State Northridge (I graduated from there in 2011). The trombonist is Sean Shackelford, the pianist is Michael Ragonese, the trumpet player is Dylan Peck, drummer is Brijesh Pandya and I don't know the bassist.
