FS: 1948 Olds Super

Post by ttf_anonymous »

Selling an Olds Super straight trombone. From 1948, it's structurally in great condition, just lacquer flaking to reveal shiny copper underneath. Doesn't affect sound. Lacquer was flaking when I got it a few years ago, has stayed pretty much the same since. No dents.

Specs:
Copper Bell with silver tone ring.
.485-.500 dual bore fluted slide. 8/10. Slightly noisy but really fast. Works best with slide o mix or Yamaha lubricant. Will have the whole horn cleaned and serviced by brass repair genius Gary Dafler from Hauer Music in Dayton before shipping.

Playing wise: high F is the best note on the horn. It's really easy to hit on this horn! Not joking, have video to prove it. Image
Really easy to play in all ranges. Low range is surprisingly powerful, and high range really projects. Can achieve a super dark ballad sound, or just peel paint when pushed. It's really easy to change character if needed.

If you're looking for a great, versatile jazz horn at a great price, then look no further!

Will ship CONUS in good condition original hard case, foam packed for maximum protection.

Only reason I'm selling it is that I have another Super that plays even better that I'm keeping!

$575.
500 for horn and case, 75 for shipping from Cincinnati
Can include MINT condition Olds 3 mouthpiece for an additional $40.
