I'm interested in the following

Any size of DE LT 100-101 rim. Gold Plated highly preferred but I will consider any plating configuration including lexan.

DE LT E8 large shank.

Please let me know what you have; if a sale falls through I may be interested in buying a DE LT E cup

Have you considered a F8 shank, just one size off? I doubt it'd make much of a difference if you don't mind not having matching components. I use an LTH cup on a G8 shank, for example. Just a thought.

Doesn't the letter on the shank need to match the letter on the cup?

There are only a few different throat sizes... it might be A-D, E-I, J-P. I used an F8 shank on an XT E cup for awhile. The big difference if the throat sizes are the same is the length of the shank.

A cup that is shallower will have a longer shank such that his "A" cups have the longest shanks and his "P" cups have the shortest shanks (as far as I know at least).  So if you put an F shank on an E cup the whole mouthpiece will be a little shorter.  I actually kind of like it depending on the context. I have an LB L with an M8 shank that I prefer to an L8 shank I happen to have.  The opposite doesn't feel as good to me (e.g. a K8 shank on an LB L cup). YNMMV!

EDIT: Fixed "smaller" to "shorter"

Well I'm using this as a crossover piece on my .547, so this should work. I was just concerned with the fit.

So anyone have an F8 shank for sale?

Thanks for the info y'all, that's super helpful!

This thread is very interesting and probably needs to be moved to the mouthpiece section.

Any way we can get clarity on what throat sizes are the same, that would be really handy to know? Using primitive observation methods I could find no step between a G shank on an H cup. I hadn't considered the whole mouthpiece might be a little longer, but this makes sense as I have noticed the  small difference in the height of each cup size.

Didn't Doug also start making the shanks a little shorter at some point also?

Interesting stuff.

Kind regards,

Hamo

Maybe too late but I have LT 101 rims available in both gold and lexan.   I switched to Wedge rims and will never go back.
