seeing whats out there for a friend.  looking for a bach 50b or yamaha 830, 822 or 620 for less than $2000, preferrable around $1800 in good shape.  he wants it straight (lined up with no funkiness aorund the rotors), and is willing to pay for it.  please let me know via response to this post, private message, and/or email at ][email protected]

Thank you

I think the lack of responses should tell you something to tell your friend.

You can have a double valve, a Yamaha Xeno, and $1500: any 2 but not all 3.  For that amount of money he needs to lower his standards a bit.  Or save up until he can afford the price of what he thinks he wants.

It's not a Bach or a Yamaha or in your price range but it's a nice horn worth considering:
Rath R-900 in near-mint condition for sale.

I play tenor and wanted to double on bass, but there's not enough doubling work to justify keeping it, just lying around.

This horn is immaculate. See Pics https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzCUeKv1M68hbDRpVGx1SmdXQkU
Lacquer is 100-percent
No dings
Slide is 10 out of 10

Price for horn (without accessories below), including conus shipping/insurance: $2800 (nearly $500 below Dillon's price)

Accessories also for sale (as a package, with the horn)*

Leather Specialties hand slide and neck/valve guards for R900 in perfect condition - costs $36 new
Wallace bass trombone straight mute in perfect condition - costs $95 new
Rath bass trombone pencil holder and put-put golf-sized Rath Trombones pencil - priceless
Rath B2 gold-plated bass trombone mouthpiece in perfect condition, costs $180 new
Pro-Tec (brand) bass trombone gig bag - costs $120 new
    mint-condition
heavy-duty ballistic nylon construction...but don't try shooting at it with the horn inside
    sumptuous leather trim
    copious internal padding
    shoulder strap
    hard/protective compartment for slide
all zippers all work and all zipper pulls are intact

Value of accessories is over $430, new.  If accessories are purchased with horn, add $200 for package.

   *  If the horn buyer does not want the accessories, I'll re-post them on the forum as a separate FS item

Botton Line
Price for horn: $2800
Price for accessories (with horn): add $200
I'll cover shipping and insurance in CONUS

For under $2,000, you will infrequently see some of the Getzen 1062's and Holton TR-181's.  Occasionally a Yamaha YSL-612II or YSL-613 will show up for that price, but unless it's a serious beater that will require substantial work, the instruments you're looking for just don't show up for under $2,000.

Thanks for the help guys. I’ve tried the getzens and the holtons. They don’t fit me well as most of the getzens play sharp and the Holtons seem stuffy. I’ve been on eBay and have contacted the Yamaha owner to see if I can buy that outright. Just trying to get him one that I know will be good.. I sincerely appreciate the lookout.

OR a kanstul. I saw a yeo go for less than $2000 on here about six months ago. Any help, aside from what’s been given already, would be appreciated!

Well, Holtons might SEEM stuffy.. but they really aren't, in my experience.  I would describe them as "average." With practice, they blow wide open.
