Conn 50h

I was conducting a school band today and they had a Conn 50h small bore with F attachment in their storage. They let me borrow it and its surprising easy to play. Even I normally can't play a small bore, this one did work ok for me.

Never seen or heard about this trombone before? Anybody knows more about this modell? I think its rather new, or it looks new. They told they bought it about 10-15 years ago.

I've seen quite a few of them around and my school had one as well. It was really beat up though so it didn't play well. I thought it was one of the 'director' model horns but I could be wrong

A 50H is a medium-bore horn (.522" bore), so it's not all that small. They were marketed as a "student bass trombone".

Never had a chance to play one that was in good condition; all I've ever seen is school horns and former school horns.

The 50H is a staple in the market and has been there for a long time. Its an excellent trombone for a first f attachment horn.

I had a late 50H for a while which I picked up for the slide but sold the entire horn. This one was an Eastlake horn with .525" bore and played quite well. The 8.5" bell felt odd to me with the original slide or the wider slide from my 79H.
