Dear all,
just out of curiosity - not (yet) really interested in buying it:
Regarding their small bore Wessex says "As part of the 'Hoehler Premier' Range this trombone is closely based on a legendary small bore trombone of the past." (https://eu.wessex-tubas.com/collections ... ier-pb4501)
Any clue which legendary small bore they mean hear?
Any playing impressions? Does it come anywhere that mystery trombone of the past?

If you are interested in a "legendary small bore" trombone, try to find a Holton 65 or Conn 4H. They are the "legendary small bore" trombones. There are others, too. An Olds Recording, King 2B, or Martin Committee as a couple of examples. And they should cost a lot less than a new Wessex "miracle".

Re: Wessex small bore?
I'm not a sophisticated consumer of small-bore instruments by any means, but when Chip was going to trade shows with Wessex he put one of these in my hands and it sure seemed to me to play great.
I don't love a curved brace, because for me it seems to make it hard to get enough leverage to properly secure the instrument, but on a light trombone like this it is OK.

From my chats with Chip, he based it on the Urbie even to the curved hand brace and he was very proud of them

Re: Wessex small bore?
A friend of mine who is a very experienced pro jazzer and has played pretty much every model of trombone ever made went to the warehouse in the UK and tried the small pro models.
He told me that although they looked nice, in reality they felt quite a lot heavier the horn it was based on and did not blow nicely
Just sayin'
