Conn valved bass instrument
Has anyone seen one of these before? Any old advertisements? Do you know what key it is in? Sorry if it’s been posted before.

That is completely bizarre. Never seen anything like it.

Didn't BAC post some picture of this? It's some sort of marching euphonium prototype.

Kind of looks like it may be related to the old over-the-shoulder saxhorns.

Hey kids!! Wanna be the envy of everyone on your block?!? Then buy a Conn reverse-OTS piston valved contrabass herald trumpet!!!
Yes, it’s a trumpet, not a baritone or a trombone! Yes, it’s reversed over-the-shoulder so it faces forward, just like you’re supposed to when marching!!! And it has PISTON VALVES, not like those old, clunky top-action rotary valves like they played in the old days. And best of all, it’s in the key of C, sure to confuse those high-note trumpet players!!!

It looks like it would be better balanced than the Kanstul or Besson bass heralds. On those, the whole instrument is out in front of the mouthpiece.

I played a "G" bass Besson herald trumpet in TUSAB for several years. I'm pretty sure that the Besson company copied the ergonomics of their horn from those fanfare-playing guys in the "Ben Hur" movie ! The most important part was to have a bell long enough to hang a tabard [flag] from it !

Herald trumpets are already bad enough. The contrabass herald in C must take the cake.
As soon as I saw the FAT bell screw ring and tabard rings I knew what it was....

You can see it's the exact same specimen. Same horn in your pics as the one from BAC.SlideCrook wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 1:52 pm The one I found was on Facebook marketplace, I didn’t know about the BAC info on it
