New Edwards B502AR

Post by fwbassbone »

I received my new B502AR today. I've spent an hour on it so far and really like it. Very even throughout and the AR valves are really nice. Yellow brass bell and dual bore slide like on my old B502D. Thanks Edwards and Dillons for a great instrument.

That sure looks nice; congrats! I'm curious about those valves, so if you could post a closer picture of them, I'd be happy.

(I'm currently struck with Corona, for the third time, so I'm a little envious about your practising. I had planned on practising on some really tough parts, but now I have to wait this d@mn infection out....)

They actually look like rotors only bigger than a Bach rotor. They are silky smooth and at least as open as the valves on my Greenhoe.

So how does this model differ from the earlier one?

Trying to find a dependent version, I know they've stopped naking the old one. Anyone got one to sell - preferably new?

Edwards has new B502Ds listed on their website. Most likely the Last dependent B502s.

The first thing you notice is the valves are more open. I think there is a video where Christan goes through the improvements. It plays better than the first model but that first model was still a great horn.

That's a wonderful finish on your horn too! It also compliments the Scotch! Congratulations!

I've now had a chance to use the horn in both big band, brass band, and ensemble settings. It just works so well and has the best pedals of any in-line horn I've ever played.
