Bach 36 Bell with Bach 8 Slide

Post by mlshermancpa »

My straight Bach 36 and Bach 8 trombones are approximately the same vintage. I just found out that the male slide connectors are the same size. Has anyone ever tried a smaller slide on a Bach 36 bell? If so how was your experience with that setup? Thanks.

the smaller slides have the same connector, but they are much shorter. It can be... interesting but not necessarily useful.

I swapped slides between my 36 and 39.

They both played well, if not practically.

Matt, I did this once with a Bach 12 and a 39, and both wind up in C, with the 12 slide, and 39 bell having 8 or 9 positions but a small sound and the 39 slide and 12 bell the bigger sound but only about 5 positions or so!
