Paul Faulise Bass Trombone Methods

Post by tbonesullivan »

Does anyone know if Paul Faulise's "The Basics F Gb D In-line Double Valve Bass Trombone, Sound, Intonation, Articulation, Valve Facility" method will be available again? I can only find copies of them internationally. I know that Faulise had his own publishing company, and following his death in 2020, it looks to have stopped printing copies.

I thought I had picked up both the "Basics" book early 2023, and the "Daily Warmup" book, but it turns out that one was mislabeled (wrong SKU on the UPC), and I actually have two copies of the "Daily Warmup" books. I'd definitely like to get the other book, but I'd rather not have to import it from the UK. Does anyone have any information?

Have you tried Hickey’s Music in Ithaca, NY? I bought new copies of some of the Paul Faulise books from them a couple of years ago.

Unfortunately they are all out. That's where I picked up one of the copies of the "Warmup" book. They were already out of stock of the Basics book at that point. I ordered it from another shop, but never really looked at it when it came in, and it was the wrong one. It's not a big deal, I just wanted some new exercises to work on.

Word is that arrangements have been made with Paul's family for his three books to be back in print!

I spoke with Gordon about this. He has full support from Paul's family. It is listed currently to get another website to stop a copyright infringement.

Gordon said it will be a few weeks. They will carry all three of Paul's books at Cherry Classics.

I'll definitely be ordering the other two books once they are available. And yes, I've seen copies popping up in places, and I'm sure someone has uploaded them to Scribd, which can be a pain to take get off of. Jeff Reynolds had some problems with that, which he detailed on the bass trombone facebook group, but was successfully able to get them off scribd.

Hey Everyone!

Looks like Gordon has them up.

All 3 are for F/D setups. The first one is more appropriate for dependent (but all could still benefit), the second one is for inline and the third is if you are new to the instrument.

All of them are great books.
