looking for jazz solos with piano

Post by Kingfan »

My mother in law is 92 and in a nursing home. I visit several times a week. Their activities coordinator knows I play trombone and asked if I could do some easy jazz melodies/solos with their pianist. Does anybody know of a book of not-too-difficult jazz standards with piano accompaniment, or even individual charts? No, I can't ad lib my way out of a paper bag. TIA!
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are still missing! :D

Can their pianist read a lead sheet and play chords? If so a Real Book can go a long way.

When I was a kid (Late Pre-Cambrian Era) there were some books called "20 Years 20 Hits" for solo instrument with piano. Easy accompaniments and just melody lines. Music was from the first half of the 20th Century. Perfect for Nursing Home.

Perfect for retirement homes / assisted living facilities, etc. -
Carl Strommen's "jazz-style" arrangements with written-out "improvisations:
• Gershwin by Special Arrangement
• Instrumental Solos by Special Arrangement
• Broadway by Special Arrangement
• Movie Songs by Special Arrangement

All straightforward for trombone & piano. Also with CD accompaniment.
Affordable from your favorite sheet music vendor.

Good luck. Entertain. Enjoy.
