Not much you trombone fellas can do, but wanted to hear your experiences with such matters.
Last Wednesay I had a small riding incident resulting in a horse reacting unexpected, and by accident smacking its head against my mouth. Result is that I did bite a small wound into my lower lip from the inside, near the center, and very well inside the mouthpiece rim. Teeth, bone, lip surface are all unharmed and fine.
It seems to heal well over the last 4 days, but I have a harder spot where the wound closed, and are yet not able to play trombone as it gives an unpleasant buzzing and slightly numb feeling there. I tried first time today, Sunday, but stopped after one minute again.
As I have some concerts to come after Easter, I would like to be prepared, and don't like waiting, but I reason its best to wait practicing until the healing is sufficiently progressed.
My question this is, did anybody experience similar small inside lip injury, and how long did it take before it felt OK to play again?

Re: Lip injury healing process
I had a bike accident 10 years ago or so, where I flew off the bike and bit all the way through my bottom lip.
I took 6 weeks off the instrument and had no issues coming back. Play it safe and stay away from the horn, IMO.
