My way.

I played this a long time ago and are surprised how many likes it got. Even the playing is not good. This is played with an Conn 70h the same day I got it. Later I didn't like that Conn. But I was too excited to recognise that this one was not the best Conn. The first day it felt fantastic. I struggle with intonation, but I refused to admit it. Had two other 70h which was much more thanksgiving.

I got an analysis from YouTube where the listeners are from and it surprises me even more. Asia and South America first. Then USA and then Europe. Australia nearly nothing. In Europe nearly nothing from my home country Norway. Nearly nothing from Great Britain, mostly from Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and then Poland. Then other east europian countries. Russia; nothing. China; nothing.

The song "My way" is maybe banned in China and Russia? People there are not allowed to think "my way" Hope it will not happens to other big countries in this turbulent world.....?

But I'm surprised my own home country is so low on the list. Maybe it was just my mother who listened it.... :D I played it for her originally.

:good:

Yeah, that's nice!

Also the songwriting of the original is a masterclass on how to construct a memorable and dramatic melody.

The trombone is nice. The accompaniment is maddening. I had to stop listening.

I suspect the list of countries says more about Youtube's suggestion algorithm than anything else. Or maybe cultures who are/aren't stingy with the LIKE button.

Funny. I was just watching a Sinatra clip on YouTube of him performing this. Outstanding playing!

Leif, I love your channel and come back also to that specific recording every now and then. So some of the German listeners is just me :-)

The analytics are interesting!

China and Russia might be relatively easy to explain. both countries have really restrictive politics on "western" media and at least partly banned YouTube. this means listeners may not appear in the statistics anymore, but might still listen via VPN routing. That could also explain some other deviations.

Very nice sound, Leif. Your sound is so good, you don't need to do all that fancy-dancy stuff that most trombonists feel they need to do to keep the listener listening. That's the kind of playing I respect the most. It's good because it's good; just like food ought to be. If food is good, it doesn't need fancy sauces and garnishes to enjoy. The steak is good because the steak is good. Period. Your playing is good. Period.
